Since 2015 The Creative Element has partnered with agencies in Defence, Government, Education, Corporate and Community Sectors to deliver high quality programs, events, installations, prototyping and design thinking solutions and training programs. The Edgy AF program

Client: Royal Australian Air Force - 2020-current

The Creative Element works with the Royal Australian Air Force and the Air and Space Power Centre to the deliver the EDGY AF program. An Applied Design Thinking Course which is a available to RAAF service personnel across Australia in 10 dedicated makerspace labs serviced by the Creative Element.

The program trains personnel with design thinking and prototyping knowledge so that when they recognise a problem in their workplace, they can investigate its cause, and develop innovative solutions to the issue. The program empowers personnel to develop improvements in their workplace through innovation and support is available to test their ideas. EDGY AF is available to aviators of all ranks and musterings.


Avalon Air Show

Client: Royal Australian Air Force - 2019

The Avalon Air Show showcased the latest in technology and career opportunities at the RAAF. The Creative Element developed and provided the flight line immersive experience at the Avalon International Airshow, along with STEM workshops showcasing the opportunities available in the Air Force with a STEM education. Amplify

Client: Royal Australian Airforce - 2023

The Creative Element delivered over four hours of workshops on sensors and electronics for female RAAF cadets at Richmond Airbase. The workshops encouraged STEM learning in potential recruits and the opportunities available in the AirForce through a STEM education.


STEMSells Education Program

Client: Canberra Innovation Network/Department of Innovation Science and Research - 2015-2018

Under a Grant from the Australian Government and working with the Canberra Innovation Network, the Creative Element designed and delivered four seasons of the STEMSells education program from 2015 to 2017.

In the 10-week program participants were challenged to develop their own product, with access to industry-grade manufacturing and prototyping technologies. The program was developed to encourage female participation in STEM.


F1 Grand Prix – Australian Defence Force Pavilion, Astro-STEM Zone

Client: Australian Defence Force - 2019

We designed and delivered the Jericho Astro-STEM Zone in the Australian Defence Force Pavilion at the Formula 1 Grand Prix, a major international immersive event. The Zone was a “physics lesson in disguise” to encourage kids to engage in STEM education and careers.

Australian Defence Force at PAX AUS Melbourne

Client: Australian Defence Force - 2022

Presented as part of the Games in Defence: Innovation, Research and Engagement panel to 80,000 PAX attendees. Founder Erica Hediger discussed with Defence scientists how game techniques, technologies, and innovation help deliver key skill to the Defence ecosystem.


Teacher Professional Development

Client: Garran Primary - 2017

Delivered a Professional Development workshop for teachers to introduce skills required in establishing maker spaces and integrating them with the curriculum.

Women in STEM Edit-a-thon Q&A Panel: UNSW Women in Science

Client: University of NSW - 2022

Founder and CEO Erica Hediger presented as part of the Q&A Panel at the Women in STEM Edit-a-thon at UNSW’s Women in Science 2022. Fellow panelists were Professor Tanya Monro, Australia's Chief Defence Scientist, and Associate Professor Alice Motion, a Westpac Research Fellow and Deputy Director Sydney Nano.



National Capital Exhibition display and interactive app

Client: National Capital Authority - 2018

The Creative Element designed, manufactured and installed a new interactive exhibition at the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point for the National Capital Authority.


88mph bar and nightclub

Client: 88mph - 2017

The Creative Element designed, manufactured and installed bespoke lights and a disco-rainbow light-up dance floor for the Canberra 80s themed night club, 88mph.


Movie prop design and fabrication for The Furies

Client: Silversun Pictures - 2019

The Creative Element designed and manufactured props for the 2019 Australian horror-thriller The Furies.


Custom chocolate molds design and fabrication

Client: Enigma Fine Chocolate - 2019

This workshop, delivered in collaboration with Enigma Fine Chocolates taught attendees an introduction to CAD design and 3D printing. Participants were allowed to make their own Easter bunny mold and accompanying chocolate. 


Old Parliament House door restoration

Client: Old Parliament House - 2017

The Creative Element manufactured components to restore the front doors to Old Parliament House. Using our light manufacturing capability we recreated decorative components of the original door for the client.
